It was a sunny Monday in River City and Mike was extremely happy. Jane was set to start her first shift that morning and Mike had asked Alex and Taja to be at the bar at the same time. They would finally meet!

Mike was looking over the bar when Jane emerged from the back of the shop wearing her apron.

"Am I wearing it right?" she asked. Mike turned around.
"Yes! You look like a perfectly cool and sweet barista." he smiled.
"Thank you! We'll see. I've never done this before and I'm a bit nervous."

"You'll be great. Take one thing at a time." he reassured her. Then the door opened and Alex walked through.
"Hey man, how's it going?" he asked Mike.
"Marvelously, thanks for asking. This is Jane, the girl I told you about." she smiled at him.
"Hi Alex." she said. They shook hands.

The awkward moment was interrupted by Taja's sort of great entrance. She tried pulling the door instead of pushing it. For a while. Mike went to help her and she finally got in. She stopped in her tracks. Mike saw the exact moment when she saw Jane. It was an unmistakable look. It was the same expression he had had when he had met his husband, thirty years before. Love at first sight.

He accompanied Taja to the others.
"Jane, Alex, this is Taja. Taja, they are Jane and Alex." they all waved and stayed silent. It was reeeeally awkward.

"Okay, I'll say it. It's kinda weird, cause Mike has been telling me about you and I'm sure he told you about me as well, so it's as if we all knew each other, but not really. So, let's start again. Hi, I'm Alex, I love Taylor Swift, the color purple and dancing." Taja giggled.

"Dancing... with your hands tied? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Hi, I'm Taja. I love Taylor Swift, of course, smelling flowers and making grand entrances. Or at least trying to." Mike laughed.

"Well, that leaves me... My name's Jane. I like writing, hot coffee and listening to Taylor, of course." she smiled. "Also, I bought a stupidly expensive apartment and I'd love to have you guys as roomates, so that I know we'll only have good songs playing." Alex and Taja looked at each other and high fived.

"Yesss I'd love to!" he exclaimed.

"It's going to be awesome." whispered Taja, looking at Jane like she was the only luminous thing in the room.

"Also, we should totally create a Taylor Swift fanclub here in River City!" said Mike.

"That would be great." said Jane. "Now, let's get to work."

THIRTEEN YEARS LATER

"I can't believe this is happening." whispered Mike.

"Me too. It's completely crazy." said Alex.
