Let's balance out

It isn't as bad as you think. Or maybe it is.

Another week has passed and we're back with the climate updates! This is "Let's balance out" and you'll read one good news and one bad news about the climate crisis. Shall we begin?

So what do you want first? The good news or the bad news?

It is good to know that a fashion brand as famous as Hermès is making an effort towards the climate. Apparently, according to this article by The Guardian, the brand has produced a bag which is made of a leathery fabric that is created from fungus. The material is called Sylvania and this could start a new era in fashion design, especially because we know that the fashion industry pollutes a lot!

As we read in this article by the BBC, plastic from take out food is polluting oceans and rivers. Scientists have found more than 12 million pieces of litter, and 8 out of 10 of the items were made of plastic. Plus, it is show that 44% of that plastic comes from food containers and wrappers from take out food.

The researchers also gave some tips on how to tackle the issue: first, we must find an alternative to plastic for take out food; second, ban the unnecessary plastic (for example bags); third, find a way to encourage shoppers to return take out products.
