Let's balance out

It isn't as bad as you think. Or maybe it is.

Another week has passed and we're back with the climate updates! This is "Let's balance out" and you'll read one good news and one bad news about the climate crisis. Shall we begin?

So what do you want first? The good news or the bad news?

The President of the United States Joe Biden has called for a two day summit with 40 world leaders to discuss the climate effort of the different countries.

Here's some of the promises he made during this summit:
- He submitted to the United Nation the plan to cut down the emissions of 50-52% by 2030
- As for the US they will double the financial help they give to developing countries that are struggling with the disastrous effect of the climate crisis (droughts, heatwaves etc)

Biden has warned that the planet is at risk of reaching the point of no return, and even though this is not enough to deal with climate change, "the US goal is one of the most ambitious for a developed country, will make a significant dent in overall emissions and has generally been received as striking the right balance between ambitious and feasible by governments desperate to see the world's largest economy rejoin the climate battle."

Despite making promises about spending more money to tackle deforestation, in the very same summit we have talked about above, it seems that the president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro has approved a cut to the environment budget in his country.
Generally his climate policies are criticised world-wide, in the past he has encouraged agriculture and mining in the Amazon Forest.
