BAD NEWS

We already know that our consuming of things harms the planet, and in particular a research has shown that the consumer behaviour in the UK and other rich nations is responsible for the loss of almost 4 trees per year.

While some of this is compensated by planting more trees, the real harm comes from the import of products such as coffee and cocoa. These stuff is linked to deforestation in various parts of the planet: for example the consumption of cocoa in Germany puts the forests in Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana and Tanzania at risk.

They are very important because they soak up great amounts of carbon dioxide and are home to 50-90% of the ecosystems of the planet.
