So, today I'm mad at society.
Well, big news, I'm always mad at society. But today I'm a bit more mad.
One name, two words, ten letters.
Alan Turing.
You probably don't know who that is, right?
Well, he simply laid the basis for computer science. You wouldn't be holding your phone or sitting in front of your computer screen reading this article if he hadn't existed.
And if that wasn't enough for you, let me tell you that he cracked the enigma code in WWII. This means that he deciphered the coded messages that the Nazis were sending to each other, containing the coordinates and orders for their attacks.

HE SAVED 14 TO 21 MILLION PEOPLE!
Now, I'm not very good at math, but those are many people.
So, you're probably wondering why you have never heard of him.
The answer is very and sadly simple.
Homophobia.
That's right guys, Alan Turing was gay. This fact was perceived as wrong at that time, so Alan Turin, a WAR HERO, was forced to undergo chemical castration.
He then committed suicide.
History erased, or, at least, concealed him.
I had never heard of him, he isn't in any of my history books, and the first time I heard his name was in "the Imitation Game", where he's portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch (you probably know him as Doctor Strange or Sherlock Holmes).

This is a very beautiful movie and it finally tells the story of a genius, whose only crime was to love somebody.
I highly suggest you watch the film; you can find it on Netflix.
And if you, reading this, are part of the LGBTQ+ community and are thinking you shouldn't be who you are, just stop.
You're perfect, just the way you are.
Did you hear me? I said you're PERFECT, JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!
Please, never forget this. Never forget Alan Turing.
