BAD NEWS
Since Australia signed the Paris Agreement, the country's big four banks have financed new fossil fuel projects that would cancel the national emission reduction target. And even though the banks make public their climate commitments and investment policies, they also loan three times as much to finance fossil fuel projects instead of renewables.
GOOD NEWS
The issue with CO2 is double. The first thing is to try to produce as little as possible. The second thing is to eliminate the amounts that are here already to keep the global temperature rise below 2°C. And in this second matter there is a technique that has been analysed that could suck billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide from the air every year. That would be spreading rock dust on farmland, which could have also other benefits too, like reducing acidification and improve fertility.
