Last week, on Sunday the 5th of January, the Golden Globes officially opened the doors to the 2020 Award Season, the first one of this new decade.
Ahh, the award season, my favourite time of the year.
You'll think: "Oh, I'm not a cinema lover so this doesn't concern me" and my dear, you couldn't possibly be more mistaken. Because sooner than you think thousands of pictures, videos and articles will start to pop up in the timelines of your social media and you won't be able to avoid the hovering presence of award season.

But how does this work? It's simple. The movies taken into consideration by award shows are all the ones that came out during the year before. Award shows then proceed to say all the nominees to the categories and then, between January and February, the various juries host their event and they say who won what.
There are more awards than just Golden Globes and the Oscars. And that's why we talk about a season of awards, because between those two (which are the opening and the closing ones of the season) there are the Critics' Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild SAG Awards, Grammy Awards, BAFTA Awards and Film Independent Spirit Awards.
So, yes, a whole season of red carpets, photo-calls, iconic outfits and moving speeches.

I was pretty happy with the results and what struck me the most was Brad Pitt's victory for his role as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It was kind of unexpected, but in a cool way! I mean, as he said, he was "competing" against some legends of cinema like AL PACINO, ANTHONY HOPKINS and TOM HANKS.
I mean, movies are not objectively ugly or beautiful, as we cannot say what beauty objectively is. So, go out there and enjoy what you like! Plus, don't let anything stop you from enjoying something, not even a lost award! Just look at the Best Actor in a Leading Role category. You have Taron Egerton, Joaquin Phoenix, Adam Driver and many others and they all did a brilliant job in portraying their characters!
To decide who was the best is a really difficult call to make, and I'm happy I am not the one doing that. I am happy to be here and to be able to enjoy all of those without worrying about putting them against each other.
