Good news: solar and wind generated 10% of energy in 2021
For the first time in 2021, solar and wind generated 10% of global energy. This, according to the BBC, means that not only that renewable energies were able to respond to a very large increase in energy demand in the year after the pandemic, but also that gas and coal production was reduced as a result.
Bad news: we'll reach 1.5C of global warming in 2035
Right now, as we read in the Guardian, reaching 1.5C of global warming is inevitable. And again according to this article, this temperature increase will occur in 2035. Furthermore, this means that even if we were able to reach zero emissions in the next 30 years, we would still have to live with this temperature increase at least until 2070.
