BAD NEWS

COP26 is over, and even if both positive and negative news have come out of it, the final result is not great. Generally speaking, all of the countries agree to keep the rise in temperature below 1.5°C, but one of the greatest disappointments has been the fact that many countries are still trying to slow down the cut in emissions. Moreover, on the financial side some expectations have not been met: richer countries had promised to develop a plan to economically support poorer countries in their energy transition, but that money never arrived. If you want to know more, here's a very simple video made by The Guardian on the topic!

GOOD NEWS

Finally, here's a list made by the BBC with the 7 actions that countries need to take on to curb the climate crisis, here's some of them:

1. Keep fossil fuels in the ground: to burn them means to increase CO2 emissions, which prevent the atmosphere to release heat, consequentially heating up the planet.
2. Reduce methane emissions: at COP26 100 countries have promised to reduce their methane emissions.
3. Convert to renewable energies: if countries want to reach net zero emissions by 2050 the majority of energy sources must be renewable.
